Preamble

The collision and rebound phenomenon of droplets with superhydrophobic surfaces is an important topic in fluid dynamics research, which has a wide range of applications in the fields of materials science, biomedicine, and precision manufacturing. How to accurately observe the transient behavior of microdroplets and analyze their dynamical mechanisms has become the key to breakthroughs in scientific research and industrial technology.

Difficulties and Challenges:

·The liquid collision process is a continuous action in milliseconds or even microseconds, and traditional equipment is prone to image delay or data loss due to bandwidth limitations.

·Droplet diameter is usually 1-5mm, but features such as surface ripples and micro-droplet sputtering need to be analyzed at the sub-pixel level, which poses a double challenge for optical system aberration control and image algorithms.

MindVision’s self-developed PX series high speed Area Scan Camera MV-PX2100GC/GM is mainly applied to high frame rate and high pixel machine vision scenes. With 21 million effective pixels and 4850Mbyte bandwidth data transmission performance, it builds a bridge between “phenomenon observation” and “mechanism analysis” for researchers.

Sub-pixel Accuracy

21 megapixels capture micron-scale deformation of droplet surfaces (e.g. edge fluctuations, sputtering micro-droplets). In the study of droplet collision and other micro-dynamics, it empowers scientific research and machine vision to “see both the forest and the trees” – not only tracking high-speed dynamics globally, but also analyzing micro-mechanisms in-depth, and ultimately promoting the technology iteration in the fields of super-hydrophobic materials, biomedicine, precision manufacturing, and so on. and precision manufacturing.

Application Cases

Liquid Drop Test:

It can accurately track liquids during drop impacts and capture acceleration, deformation and other data, making up for the limitations of traditional sensors in the testing of small and light parts.
